History

 1872
Carl Reuther, together with Carl Bopp, founds a special factory for manufacturing pumps and heavy-duty valves.

 1900
Bopp & Reuther supplies 60% of the world's water gate valves. A water supply plant large enough to supply an entire city can be produced at the factory in the Waldhof district of Mannheim.

 1903

Setting up of the division steam valves: Safety valves with direct weight- and spring loading; shut-off valves, steam traps, throttle valves, exhaust valves and steam reducing valves.

 1932
Entering measurement technology opened the way to the development of the oval wheel meter. With this high-precision liquid volume meter, Bopp & Reuther engineers succeed in inventing a basic measuring device, which is still highly regarded and widely used today in many different versions and applications.

 1951
Production of pressure reducing valves with auxiliary control units starts in 1951. This was the beginning of the development of a range of safety valves for conventional and nuclear power plants, as well as for use in plants in the chemical and petrochemical industries.

 1990
With the arrival of a new shareholder, IWKA AG, the company is reorganized into divisions operating as independent companies. In addition, two new companies are brought into the Group: IWK Regler und Kompensatoren GmbH of Stutensee, and RMG Regel+Messtechnik GmbH of Kassel. These additions to the Group result in a substantial expansion of the fields of activity, incorporating broad areas of modern valve, measurement and control technology.

 1997
Introduction of the API-spring-loaded safety valve. With it B&R SR not only perfects the range of safety valves but also expands the scope of delivery to broad areas of ASME-Specification which becomes more and more important all over the world.

Compact-valve SiC

 2000
Takeover of the servicing activities of Zikesch (gate valves and valves for utilization in power plants).

 2001
Takeover of the companies „Pier Armaturen GmbH“ and „AGP“: B&R SR is able to further expand its range of delivery by gate valves and nonreturn valves. The foil safety valve opens completely new market segments.

 2003
Introduction of the EN – safety valves. With the standardization of the European Standards a new series of valves is born.
